Ann Stuart J.D. ’79 was never one to let lifelong ambitions pass her by. At 45 years old, Ann reinvented herself from elementary school teacher to lawyer. After enrolling at Santa Clara Law School and passing the California Bar Exam on her first try, she practiced family law then joined District Attorney’s Office of Santa Clara County. She played an essential role on the motions team and mentored a generation of DAs and future judges. Ann also had a green thumb. In retirement, she pursued a passion for orchids and served on the board of the Santa Clara Valley Orchid Society. She eagerly coached others on growing techniques and delighted in showing off unusual and hard-to-grow specimens. She even found time to pick up the clarinet. Ann died Oct. 9, 2023.
