Anita Smith J.D. ’91 was working as a paralegal for the computer network company 3Com when her employer sent her to school to become a lawyer. Anita attended Santa Clara Law School at night starting in 1987 and graduated in 1991. She started practicing law in 1993 and then became a lawyer at Adaptec for five years. In 1999, she joined Interwoven as their general counsel and helped take the company public. In 2004, Anita moved to Virsa Systems as their general counsel while it was sold to SAP before eventually going into private practice for her last seven years. Anita enjoyed painting and traveling. She died May 20, 2023, and is survived by her husband, Andrew, and dog, Wally.
