Andrea Fujii J.D. ’02 is a CBS2/KCAL9 reporter in Los Angeles. She was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She took an unusual road to journalism, which, in her words, took her “a little longer than most.” After taking and passing the California bar exam, she realized she didn’t want to practice law and instead pursued her dream of reporting.
Fujii’s first reporting job was at KHON, the Fox affiliate in Honolulu. She then anchored at the NBC affiliate in Yakima, Wash., before anchoring and reporting at the Fox affiliate in Salt Lake City and CBS’ WJZ in Baltimore. She began working with CBS2/KCAL9 in October 2012.
Fujii is married to Whit Johnson, who anchors at NBC4. She has two young daughters and a dog named Nemo. “We love being in LA: the weather, being close to family and friends, and the endless amounts of things to do and see,” she says. Fujii is always up for a challenge and describes herself as a wife, mother, dog lover and food enthusiast.
