After serving in the U.S. Army, Amedee “Al” Chanteloup ’54, M.A. ’68 returned home and met Sydne Silva, who became his partner for 57 years. Al found his calling as a teacher, inspiring generations of students in economics and history at Cubberley and Henry M. Gunn High Schools in Palo Alto. A gifted athlete and coach, Al was a lifelong love of sports and devoted fan of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. He loved playing golf with friends, dancing to oldies, and was a voracious reader. Al died on June 30, 2025.
