Alvaro E. Galvis ’02 is a pediatric infectious disease fellow at Children’s Hospital in Orange County. He completed his residency and was subsequently the chief resident in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He was also a part of the Program in Medical Education for the Latino Community (PRIME-LC), which is a dual degree M.D./master’s or Ph.D. program that is committed to training physicians to meet the needs of under-resourced Latino/a communities. He completed his Ph.D. in conjunction with the Medical Scientist Training Program in 2014 and successfully defended his dissertation “An RNA Lariat Intermediate in HIV-1 cDNA Synthesis.”
