Allan McTighe ’64 began his career in pharmaceutical sales but found his true calling in helping troubled youth. As a probation officer in Contra Costa County’s Diversion Unit, he worked to keep kids out of incarceration and in their homes. In 1980, he opened a private family counseling practice focused on teenagers. Known as “Big Al,” he devoted his life not only to his clients, but also to teaching future counselors, volunteering in schools, coaching youth basketball, and serving as an EAP counselor at US Steel/POSCO. A devoted husband to Ginny for 52 years, Allan cherished their family of three children and eight grandchildren. Al died on March 2, 2025.
