Aila Malik J.D. ’04 is a founder of Venture Leadership Consulting (www.ventureleader.org). An experienced leader, she collaborates with venture-ready organizations to reimagine their places within the education, correction, and community-based organization sectors. 

She is a member of the California Bar Association. Among other accolades, she was a recipient of the 2011 ABA Child Advocate of the Year Award. During her undergraduate career at UC Santa Barbara, she studies environmental science, professional writing, and music.

Aila has dedicated over 20 years to supporting and educating youth in many contexts including: homeless shelters, mentally disabled homes, juvenile justice system, foster care and mainstream public schools. In that time, Aila has served as a non-profit executive for high performing non-profits, an experienced trainer in the community-based organization, education, and correction sectors, an adjunct lecturer for Juvenile Justice courses at both Santa Clara University School of Law and Lincoln Law School, and recently a children’s author (www.pocketmommy.org).

A Bay Area native and Mountain View resident since 2002, Aila has been active in the local community. She is currently the Vice Chair of Mountain View’s Human Relations Commission (active since 2013), graduate of Leadership Mountain View (Class of 2015), and member of the League of Women Voters (2016). She was the Challenge Team John Gardner Honoree of Los Altos Foundation (2014), the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce’s Young Athena Award recipient (2015), and the 2016 Mountain View Champion for Youth.

Aila’s greatest motivation for community involvement is her desire to model civic engagement for her three kids. Her ultimate dream: To eliminate gaps of disparity so that ALL of our kids have opportunities to live a healthy and fulfilling life.
