While in undergrad, Albert Chou M.S. ’64 met Colette. They were married for 53 years, and spent that time traveling the world, golfing, and raising a family. His professional career kicked off at IBM Research and Development and he later co-founded Shugart Associates, where he helped pioneer the disk drive industry and earned numerous awards and patents. Albert died on July 21, 2025, and is survived by family, including granddaughters Laura Danforth ’07 and Emilie Abate ’10, grandsons Oliver Abate ’15 and Evan Abate ’24, and sons-in-law Edwin Abate ’81 and Michael Woolston M.S. ’90.
