Alan Scheflin M.A. ’87 was regarded by federal and state courts as an expert on mind and behavior control, suggestion and suggestibility, memory, and hypnosis. He had a master’s from SCU in counseling psychology and law degrees from George Washington and Harvard universities. In the course of his distinguished career, Alan received 18 professional awards from psychiatric and law organizations, authored or co-authored seven books, 51 articles, and 13 book chapters, and provided expert witness testimony in 42 judicial cases. Alan died Sept. 7, 2023 and is survived by his wife Jamie Caploe J.D. ’85.
